A hands-off recipe perfect for busy days, this method ensures a tender, flavorful ham with minimal effort. The sweet and tangy sauce doubles as a delicious gravy.

Ingredients:

  • 4-5 lb uncured ham roast

  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup

  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard

  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

  • 1/4 cup chicken broth

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening sauce)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Slow Cooker: Spray the inside of your slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray or lightly coat it with oil.

  2. Season the Ham: In a small bowl, mix garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Rub the seasoning blend all over the ham roast.

  3. Make the Sauce: In a separate bowl, whisk together maple syrup, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, and chicken broth. Pour half the mixture into the bottom of the slow cooker.

  4. Cook the Ham: Place the ham in the slow cooker, fat side up. Pour the remaining sauce over the top. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours, basting occasionally, until the ham is tender and reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C).

  5. Thicken the Sauce (Optional): Transfer the cooking liquid to a small saucepan. Bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Mix 2 tbsp of cornstarch with 2 tbsp water to form a slurry, then whisk it into the sauce. Simmer until thickened.

  6. Serve: Slice the ham and drizzle with the sauce. Serve extra sauce on the side.
