Why Does Eremos Farms Require an Application to Board?

We're not just any farm; we're a family-run, family-operated facility. We live right here on the property, and we take our farm values seriously. So, we want to make sure our boarders share those same values. Think of it as joining a quirky yet lovable farm family, and we want to ensure everyone gets along.

We're all about transparency, and that starts with our application and screening process. We want to paint a clear picture of what we offer our boarders. After all, surprises are best left for birthday parties, not boarding agreements. Plus, nobody likes unexpected disagreements at a family dinner table.

We're pretty accommodating too. Need your horse's beet pulp soaked? No problem! How about some alfalfa? You got it! We'll even handle medication during feeding. But let's get you started on that application – the sooner, the better!

Do You Have an Arena?

Ah, the arena! Unfortunately, we don't have one of those, but we've got something even better – a stunning field with gentle slopes that's perfect for riding. And if that's not enough, we've got access to over 400 acres of thrilling trails to explore. Who needs an arena when you've got nature's playground, right?

Do You Have Lights in the Riding Areas?

Lights? Nah, we don't have those either. But you know what they say, it's all about riding with style, and we believe in embracing the natural light. Plus, our horses are experts at moonlit rides – it's like a disco party without the disco ball.

What Should I Look for in a Boarding Facility?

Choosing the right boarding facility is like finding a unicorn – rare and magical. Here's what you should consider:

  1. Shared Values: Make sure your barn owner's values align with yours. It's like a match made in horse heaven.

  2. Clear Expectations: Discuss everything upfront – from hay preferences to riding goals. No surprises, just happy riding!

  3. Location Fit: Ensure the location and setup work for you and your horsey dreams.

What Are the Terms and Conditions of Boarding?

Our commitment is to safe and sustainable farming practices. So, we ask every potential boarder to sign an agreement after they've had a chat with us. We don't do stalls, but we've got shade devices for the warmer months. We are able to bring them to cover during really bad weather, but we'll always consider what's best for your horse and our capabilities.

Some horses might not be the right fit here, but we'll guide you through that decision when the time comes. It's like finding the perfect dance partner – sometimes, the rhythm just isn't there.

Do You Accept Horses with Metabolic Conditions or Grazing Muzzles?

Absolutely, but here's the catch. If your horse has metabolic conditions or needs a grazing muzzle, we'll need you to sign a hold harmless agreement, basically saying you understand the deal. We believe in the polyculture of grasses creates optimal health for horses, but some horses may not fair well.

Do You Accept Horses at High Risk of Foundering?

Sure thing, but we've got some paperwork for you. If your horse has foundered before, we'll need you to sign a release of liability – just a formality. See, we're all about adaptive grazing, but it might not work for horses with metabolic conditions or a history of foundering. Safety first, folks!

What's the Fee for Boarding?

Our boarding fee is $550 + the cost of feed. But don't worry, it includes twice-daily feedings, mineral and salt supplements, and daily rotations on our lush pastures. We're all about top-notch nutrition here; our horses eat better than some Hollywood celebs.

What About Shade and Cover?

Horses at Eremos Farms enjoy shade all day long, either through nifty shade devices or under the canopy of our friendly trees. When the weather gets feisty, we bring them to pastures that are attached to an open barn. Generally they still continue to graze out in the fields.

What's the Application Process Like?

Ready to join the Eremos Farms family? Great! Start the application process, and we'll send you an application questionnaire. Once we get your application, we'll schedule a phone call to chat and see if you and your horse would be a good fit. It's like setting up a blind date but with horses – way more exciting!

Why Do You Charge for Additional Services?

Horse care can be a full-time job, and we've got to keep the lights on at the farm. So, we charge for additional services. Check out our list of charges to see if we're a good fit for you. It's like ordering extra toppings on your pizza – you pay for the good stuff.

What's Your Aggressive Horse Policy?

We're all about welcoming horses with open hooves, but let's be real – some horses can be real bullies. If we have a particularly aggressive horse, we'll first separate it from the herd. That means extra paddocks and extra costs. If the bad behavior continues and causes chaos, well, we might have to say goodbye. It's like being the bouncer at a horse nightclub – everyone's gotta behave!

Can I Have My Horse in a Separate Paddock?

While we believe in the power of herd camaraderie, we can offer a private paddock for an additional daily fee of $15. It's like getting your own little piece of horsey real estate, but because of the additional daily work, we must charge the surcharge.

Can I Bring My Dog?

We love dogs, but we've got quite a few of our own, and they aren't the best at making new friends. So, we can't allow other dogs on the farm for the safety of our animals and to avoid any legal hassles. But hey, Calhoun Falls state park is just 10 minutes away, and it's a dog-friendly paradise!

What Are the Terms and Conditions of Boarding? (Yes, Again!)

We're all about transparency, so we require every boarder to sign our agreement. We don't do stalls, but we've got shade devices, and we'll bring horses in during inclement weather when it's practical. Our goal is to provide the best care possible without turning into a high-maintenance horse hotel.

What's the Cost of Boarding? (One More Time!)

Our boarding fee is $550 + feed and supplements you prefer. Oh, and there's the cost of one round bale per horse per month in the winter – market price, of course. We aim to keep our horses well-fed and happy year-round.

What's Included in the Boarding Fee?

A lot! Your horse gets daily rotation to fresh pastures on our 160-acre farm, access to our trails, lake, jump field, and rolling hills. We've got their meals covered twice a day (you provide the feed), free-choice minerals and salt, daily health checks, and even coordination with the farrier and vet (holding fees apply).

We offer daily blanketing, brushing, and care for a bit extra if you're interested.
